Pokemon Go Easter Egg: How To Start Pokemon Go With Pikachu As A Starter iOS 8 & 9

Who wants Bulbasaur, Squirtle, or Charmander when you catch Pikachu? In this tutorial we’ll be showing you how to start Pokemon Go the right way, with a Pikachu. Now I’m not sure wether to call this a hack or an easter egg. reason being you can still a get a fury little Pika without a jailbreak if your willing to walk. Before we go any further we’ve got to credit Polygon for going through the steps that lead to this discovery. The person who thought of ignoring the first three starter Pokemon and walk away, and kept walking, was a genius!

How to get Pikachu as your starter Pokémon

If you have an account you’ve been playing with this won’t work for you. Just keep playing and you’ll eventually find one, or you can create a new email and sign up for a Pokémon Go account.

Step 1: Launch Cydia and tap on reload if you haven’t opened it in awhile.

Step 2: Tap on the sources tab and this repo is hosted on a third-party server so you’ll need add: http://www.williamlcobb.com/repo (tap edit and then add.)

Step 3: Once the repo is added go into it, All Packages, search for PokemonGoAnywhere and install it

Step 4: Create your avatar.

Steo 5: When the Professor prompts you to “Catch a Pokémon,” walk away from Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander. and keep on walking.

Step 6: If you walk far enough away, the three pokemon will respawn about 4 or 5 more times before a fourth Pokémon will appear; A Pikachu!

Note: If you already have an active Pokémon Go account and missed out on this easter egg, you’re not out of luck on catching Pikachu. All of the starter Pokémon are available for capture around the world. You must be facing North (Red up) in order for you to walk in the direction you want to walk As described by the developer, he hasn’t been able to find the rotation of the map. Also when you are going to capture a Pokemon turn off tap to walk, or you won’t be able to throw a PokeBall.
