How To Downgrade iPad 2 & iPhone 4S To iOS 6.1.3 Without SHSH Blobs Or iTunes

Recently we showed you how to downgrade your iPhone 4S on iOS 8.4 leaving the iPad 2 IPSW’s to be made in the near future. Well today is the day to downgrade your iPad 2 (GSM, CDMA & WiFi) on iOS 8.4 back to iOS 6.1.3. So If you’re ready, and reading this right now, grab your iPad 2, or iPhone 4S, because there’s a way to downgrade to iOS 6.1.3 without SHSH blobs. This tool will only work on devices that have been on iOS 5.0.1, or possibly iOS 5.1.1; with that said, only the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S are supported.

How is it possible and only for those two devices? Apple is still signing iOS 6.1.3 OTA update (blobs), and that is the reason this works for these two devices, so it won’t work with other devices, or nonjailbroken devices. Can Apple patch this exploit? No, because then devices on iOS 5.0.1 or iOS 5.1.1 would not be able to update via OTA.

Back To 6

Note: Make sure you have iTunes 12.0.1 installed if you don’t you’ll need to downgrade your current version. Also have WinSCP and OpenSSL installed to fix dependency issues with idevicerestore. Here’s a video to help you uninstall the latest version of itunes and a blog post. Some of you will notice in the video in Command 2 “iNati0niPad2Downgrade,” but it has been corrected to “iNati0nDowngrade” in the text file.

Step 1: Download the iNati0nDowngrade.zip folder below, extract the iNati0nDowngrade folder onto your desktop, and double check to see the if all IPSWs are located in the IPSW folder. There’s suppose to be 4 in total (3 iPad 2 & 1 iPhone 4S.) select the one corresponding to your device and move it into the “idevicerestore for Windows” folder.

Note: Make sure your IPSW is in the “idevicerestore for Windows” folder as stated in the first step.

Step 2: Install OpenSSH on your device, WinSCP & Win32OpenSSL On your computer, then SSH into your iPad 2, or iPhone 4S, via WinSCP, and navigate into the <root> directory.

(Make sure you’ve installed OpenSSH from Cydia on your device.)

HOST: your IP
USER: root
PASSWORD: alpine

Step 3: Go into the “kloader & pwnediBSS” folder, select the correct device, then Transfer the “kloader” and “pwnediBSS” files into the <root> directory of your device.

Step 4: Open terminal in WinSCP & Run these commands:

Command 1: chmod +x kloader

Command 2: ./kloader pwnediBSS

Step 5: Wait until device turns off, or looks like it’s off. if needed Unplug and plug your device back in so the computer detects it in DFU mode.

Step 6: Open CMD (command prompt) and run it as an administrator. Run the following commands:

iPad 2
Command 1: cd C:/Users/Your Name/Desktop/iNati0nDowngrade/idevicerestore for windows
Command 2: idevicerestore.exe -e iNati0nCustomiPad2,x.ipsw

iPhone 4S
Command 1: cd C:/Users/Your Name/Desktop/iNati0nDowngrade/idevicerestore for windows
Command 2: idevicerestore.exe -e iNati0nCustom613.ipsw

Step 7: Enjoy iOS 6.

    Hi,
for some reason i am not able to do the terminal command “Command 2: ./kloader pwnediBSS”
it says something like “Host is not comunication for more that 15 seconds…”

and in that position i still try to run the “Command 2: idevicerestore.exe -e iNati0nCustomiPad2,x.ipsw”
it says error “LIBEAY32.dll is missing”.

    Hey,
Great guide and detailed YouTube video. I’ve followed your guide and got to the point of Step 6 (Command 2: idevicerestore.exe -e iNati0nCustom613.ipsw). It starts but then gives an “unable to extract file system from ipsw”. I’ve tried Step 6 several times now, but it hasn’t worked. Also have tried to redownload the file, but that hasn’t worked.
    Any potential solutions gratefully accepted?

Now my phone won’t switch on at all. Hope that I haven’t bricked it!

Finally got it sorted. Each attempt that I made, it left a file ipsw_2, ipsw_3 etc in C/Users/UserName/AppData/Local/Temp.
When I deleted those files, retried it and I managed to get pass the “unable to extract file system from ipsw” error message.

The other thing that I noticed was that the iphone needed to be connected to the PC via the cable at all times, not sure that I read that in the instructions.

Anyhow, I’ve now downgraded my 4s to 6.1.3. Way-hey! Thanks very much to the developers, awesome work!!!!!!
